–Science Club-our meeting on Monday, February, is cancelled. Our items for dissection have been backordered.  That means we will be dissecting at our next scheduled science club meeting on Monday, March 19. We meet after school until 4:00

–The swim and dive team lost a close meet 82 to 74.  Awesome swims by Hudson Knott, Ethan Kollen, Connall Pierson, and Carter Hughes.
You’re invited to our Student Choreography Showcase, presented by the 7th/8th grade dance students of Cityside and Creekside.  We have been studying the choreographic process in dance class.  Our final assessment is performing student choreographed dance pieces with meaningful themes and artistic value.  Come and see our creative works!  Monday February 26th, 2018 @ 7:00pm Lokers Auditorium (Cityside Middle School) Admission is free.  Donations will be accepted for the Norma Sneller Scholarship Fund.  The Norma Sneller Scholarship helps young performing artists study their arts discipline.  A suggested donation of $1-$2 per person is appreciated.  We hope to see you there!

If you are dizzy about Walt Disney Shows, the ZPS Orchestra students want to be Part of Your World for an evening of family-friendly entertainment at Cityside Middle School TONIGHT, February 23!  Admission is FREE.  The party starts at 6:15pm.  The jukebox jingles are $2.50 each or 2 for $5. Bring an appetite for the menu that has something for everyone: dairy free, gluten free, meat free – all food priced under $6. $1 buys baked goods and a raffle ticket for themed baskets: Coffee, Chocolate, Pets, Movies, Socks! Book Lovers, Sweet & Salty, Couch Potato … and more! Hakuna Matata with a Friend Like ME!

–Chix Mix auditions are coming up!  Sign up to audition on Wednesday February 28 or Thursday March 1.  Auditions will be after school in the choir room.  Sign ups sheets are outside of Mrs. Landes’s classroom.  Room 213.  Please see Mrs. Landes if there are any questions about the audition process.  The Chix Mix performance is Tuesday March 27 during the school day.

 Middle school and high school athletes are encouraged to save the date for the annual pre-participation physical exam night, scheduled for Thursday, April 19 at Shoreline Orthopaedics. The event will allow athletes to get a low cost physical to allow for athletic participation in the 2018-2019 school year. More details on time will be posted soon on the athletic websites by the end of the week.

–We would like to invite you to attend the 3rd annual Zeeland Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner and Auction.  This event will include dinner, cash bar, entertainment and auction items.  Funds raised will support ALL Zeeland East and Zeeland West athletic programs.  Join us, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Baker Lofts.  Doors open at 5:30pm.  Get your tickets online at https://halloffamedinner.weebly.com/ticket-information.html

–Families who live within the Zeeland district who would like to apply for an in-district transfer to a building other than their assigned boundary school building are asked to fill out an in-district transfer form. This form will be accepted February 1, 2018 until April 6, 2018. Applications received after April 6 will be reviewed at a later date. This form is required for all new in-district transfer requests as well as in-district transfer students entering a transition year (entering grades 6 and 9) in the fall of 2018.  Forms are available on the ZPS website or in the office.
–Any  ZPS student grade 6-11 currently enrolled in a performing arts course and enrolled again for the 2018-2019 school year is eligible to apply for a summer study scholarship. Scholarship funds may be used for summer study in your art form or to defray the cost of private lessons.  Please visit the performing arts webpage for application information!  https://sites.google.com/a/zps.org/zps-performing-arts/scholarships  Deadline for Applications:  WEDNESDAY, March 28, 2018  3:00PM
—-SPORT SIGN-UPS:  New this year,  all signups will be done online in the Final Forms www.zeeland-mi.finalforms.com. Parents and students need to register once a year for all your sports you will be playing or think you might want to play. Please check your mail/spam mail for confirmation once you have originally signed into Final Forms to confirm your account.  You can also link Final Forms through the cityside.zps.org website under athletics, or you may pick up a hard copy of the Final Forms instructions by the CBC room or in the office at Cityside. Like in the past,  we need a current 2017-2018 physical dated from the doctor after April 15 of current year to be eligible for all sports. Thank you!

–Any message needing to get to a student must be received by 1:15pm.  We call students down at the beginning of their 6th hr during announcement so we are not disturbing classroom instruction time.

 –If your child will not be in school you MUST call the attendance line at 748-3205. Reminder – if your child will be out of school, you may email their teachers, but you also need to call the attendance line or office. Thanks!

–The 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Creekside last night 42-35. The team played their best game of the season.  They played excellent defense, were very aggressive and created several turnovers. They executed their offense very well and led in rounding too.

–Middle and High School age students looking for volunteer hours, or who are interested in learning more about the work and mission of the Outdoor Discovery Center, are encouraged to join the new “VoLes” Volunteer League! This program is designed for 12 to 18 year olds who will work with a staff member on a variety of indoor and outdoor tasks. We will spend time caring for our captive wildlife, improving the nature preserve by removing invasive species and installing native plants, and a number of other activities that further our goal of connecting people with nature.  More information and Spring Schedule available at http://outdoordiscovery.org/voles/

–The Cityside Equestrian Team is hosting an informational meeting for new and returning members for the 2018 season. We welcome all types of riders of any experience level. Riders must be able to provide themselves with a horse and a way to transport the horse. Like in the past,  we need a current 2017-2018 physical dated from the doctor after April 15 of current year to be eligible for all sports. Thank you!

–Any message needing to get to a student must be received by 1:15pm.  We call students down at the beginning of their 6th hr during announcement so we are not disturbing classroom instruction time.

 –If your child will not be in school you MUST call the attendance line at 748-3205. Reminder – if your child will be out of school, you may email their teachers, but you also need to call the attendance line or office. Thanks!
