–Thanks so much to all of Cityside for your support of the food drive! The library is overflowing with peanut butter, cereal, mac and cheese, and other products! 8th grade winner – Gauthier. 7th Grade winner – Williams. 6th grader and overall winner – Mr. Timmer.

-Winter choir concert on Tuesday December 12th.  The concert begins at 7:30 pm at DeWitt Auditorium

–Orchestra concert on Thursday December 14th.   The concert begins at 7:00pm at the DeWitt Auditorium

–Monday is the last home boys basketball game this year for Cityside.  The 7th and 8th grade dancers are performing at halftime for both basketball games.  Come out and support the basketball players and dancers!

–Ski Club  The first ski club outing will be December 14.  We will start collecting money Monday December 11 in the CBC room for that event. $21. if you have your own equipment or $37. if you need to rent….Please make checks payable to Bittersweet

 —Spelling Bee:  The Spelling Bee will be Jan. 10, 2018.  If you would like to participate please stop by the office and sign up.  You may also grab the practice words when you do.
–Tarazan Cast: We are still missing 1 scripts/vocal booklets.  These must be returned to the office ASAP!

–Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital is hosting our fourth annual Inspirations for Tweens event on Thursday, March 22 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  This popular evening event gives fifth to seventh grade girls a chance to connect with adult role models as well as each other.  The event includes dinner, decoration a pair of TOMS shoes and a group discussion with a local physician. Discussion topics include body image, bullying, dating, friends, puberty and social media safety. https://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/register/222/page1.asp?m=281&c=1172Please call Amber TerHaar (616-748-8754) if you’d like to attend and need a scholarship for the $45  registration.  A donor has given money this year to provide scholarships for those who would like to attend!

— ELKS National Hoop Shoot Contest, free event for kids ages 8 through 13, Saturday Dec. 16, at Hope College Dow Center, more information.
——SPORT SIGN-UPS:  New this year,  all signups will be done online in the Final Forms www.zeeland-mi.finalforms.com. Parents and students need to register once a year for all your sports you will be playing or think you might want to play. Please check your mail/spam mail for confirmation once you have originally signed into Final Forms to confirm your account.  You can also link Final Forms through the cityside.zps.org website under athletics, or you may pick up a hard copy of the Final Forms instructions by the CBC room or in the office at Cityside. Like in the past,  we need a current 2017-2018 physical dated from the doctor after April 15 of current year to be eligible for all sports. Thank you!
–Any message needing to get to a student must be received by 1:15pm.  We call students down at the beginning of their 6th hr during announcement so we are not disturbing classroom instruction time.
–If your child will not be in school you MUST call the attendance line at 748-3205. Reminder – if your child will be out of school, you may email their teachers, but you also need to call the attendance line or office. Thanks!

–The 8th grade basketball team lost to Hamilton yesterday 35-42.  The 6-4 Chix host Fruitport on Monday for the last home game of the year.

–Tomorrow is the last day to purchase candy cane cards! Last chance to send a candy cane to your friends, or to someone special❤️, or to a favorite teacher, or to just to BE NICE to someone who might need some Christmas cheer! With any purchase, you also get a chance to win the Christmas bowl filled with candy canes! Don’t miss out!

–The Zeeland Lacrosse Program is hosting their Annual Commitment Night Tonight December 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm in Lokers Auditorium, Cityside Middle School.  If you are interested in learning more about lacrosse and our program please join us.  We will have significantly discounted lacrosse equipment for sale.

–Tarazan Cast: We are still missing 1 scripts/vocal booklets.  These must be returned to the office ASAP!

–The annual Cityside Candy Cane sale The Candy Cane sale started today! For $.25 you can send a friend a candy cane! When you make a purchase, you get a chance to guess the number of candy canes in the gift basket! Closest guess wins the basket!
–Ski Club Cards are ready for pickup and are organized by family.  Please send someone to Mrs. Maat’s room (CBC) this week to pick up your families cards.   The first ski club outing will be December 14.  We will start collecting money December 11 for that event.

Bring your donations to DEAR where a CIA student will pick them up. Top donors after the first day include Gauthier, Landes, and Palmitier, with Timmer way out front with over 400 points on day one.

–Robotics Open House: All students, friends, and family are invited to stop in to the Chix Coop on Monday (Dec 4) from 6:30-8:00pm to see Cityside’s OverClucked Bots robot as well as Creekside’s Robodux … 2 robots in action! Stop in any time to meet the team, see pictures of our season, watch and maybe even drive the robot.  OverClucked Bots t-shirts will be available for purchase ($10 each).
–Cityside Softball Club our first winter workout will be Monday, Dec 4 from 3-5 in the small gym.  Please make note of the date change!
 –Science Club will meet Monday, Dec 4 after school until 4:00. We will be baking meal worm cookies. We meet in room 113.
